Centralized Resource List
Once you click on the area in which you need help you will be taken to a page with a list of resources in Chicago and suburbs. Please keep in mind that with current COVID-19 regulations many of these services may be provided through electronics platforms (email, video chat, phone, etc). Each organization will provide you with follow-up instructions in a case-to-case basis.
Legal Self-Help Desks
A legal self-help center is a resource for learning about the law, your legal rights, and how to go to court. If you have a legal problem, you can go to a local legal self-help center to use a computer for free, have access to the internet, locate and prepare court forms, and at times receive referrals to legal aid, depending on where you are located.
The following are self-help desks in the Cook County area. If you are not located there, referrer to this page for a comprehensive list of locations across Illinois. You can filter your search by county or by specific resource you need. These centers are currently closed due to COVID-19, however, they will re-open once restrictions are lifted.
