These organizations provide free or low-cost immigration services. Even if you have an idea of the goal you would like to achieve– such as getting DACA, determining if you or a family member are eligible for a green card, applying for a visa, becoming a citizen, or just making sure of your rights– an immigration lawyer will explore all options and risks with you, and explain what courses of action you can take.
If the organization you contact cannot help you, they will put you in touch with an organization that can. However, if you can’t get a hold of one resource on this list, continue trying to get in touch with others. They are all dedicated to helping the immigrant community in Chicago.
Right now, because of COVID-19, many offices may be closed, so be prepared to “meet” with a lawyer online over video chat and follow further instructions from each organization (depending on their regulations).
